About the Research Internship
Climate Emergency Whole Building Retrofit Planning - Internship Opportunity.
​
This role would ideally suit a student of Environmental Engineering, Architecture or Interiors.
​
The intern will work with George Lovesmith, Watershed and their Grade II listed building on a Whole Building Retrofit Plan.
​

Deadline for application:
30 June 2023.

Main purpose of role
Working with George Lovesmith (artist & architect) alongside UWE Bristol's strategic partner Watershed and their Grade II listed building to creatively co-create and prototype a Whole Building Retrofit Plan.
​
Testing and translating nationally developed LETI (Low Energy Transition Initiative) guidance for Domestic Buildings for this Non-Domestic context & sharing the arising learning as a case study/Whole Building Retrofit Plan template for others to utilise.
​
What would you be doing?
The intern will have the opportunity to gain experience such as:

Surveying the fabric of a heritage building.

Evaluating retrofit options.
-
Calculating corresponding energy losses/savings, carbon implications and energy costs.
​
Where is the opportunity based?
This role will involve some time on site in central Bristol at Watershed.
​
Qualifications
Essential:
-
The intern should at least be in the first year of a university degree in a relevant subject.
​
Desirable:
-
This role would ideally suit a student of Environmental Engineering, Architecture or Interiors - or other build environment subjects.
​
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies and Experience
​
Essential:
-
An interest in building retrofit, construction, heritage conservation or building physics.
​
Desirable:
-
An interest in applications to tackle the climate crisis.
​
